The responsibility of the Paslin Controls Group begins with hardware design of the controls and power distribution systems of a project. Controls hardware design is done through the development of enclosures and panel layouts, PLC rack organization, junction boxes, wiring diagrams, cable charts, field bus I/O layouts, and interfacing with industrial equipment. Power distribution monitors and distributes power in the form of DC electricity, AC electricity, pneumatic pressure, and hydraulic pressure. Each of these needs estimating consumption; sizing of fuses, wiring, pipes, and hoses; organizing distribution; and establishing disconnect and lockouts. The final designs of both controls and power distribution are required to be safe for both operators and maintenance personnel through the use of redundant I/O, safety rated equipment, independent safety control, and zero energy lockouts.
