Paslin Expanding

DETROIT FREE PRESS–WARREN, MI (December 18, 2014–Detroit Free Press: A year after acquiring a controlling interest in Warren-based robotics supplier Paslin, a Greenwich, Conn.-based private equity firm has put the 77-year-old company on a rapid growth track.
Paslin plans to fill as many as 200 full-time technical positions over the next several weeks to expand its capacity to produce assembly line equipment for automakers and Tier-1 suppliers.
After attracting an investment from Tower Three Partners in November 2013, Paslin is investing $20 million to construct a 166,000-square-foot manufacturing and engineering center in Shelby Township, where many of the new employees will be based.
The company also secured a $1.7-million grant this week from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. to help train workers for the new positions — funding that helped convince the company not to expand in Tennessee, Alabama or offshore, executives said.
